TAREE Aquatic Powerboat Club officials will continue negotiations with the Australian Formula Powerboat Grand Prix organisers regarding a round being held in Taree again next year.

The GP boats returned to Taree for the first time in a decade last weekend.
“I know they were pleased with the standard of racing and the loved the venue,’’ Taree Powerboat committee member Scott Godfrey said.
“I’d say there’s a decent chance they’ll be back next year. We’ll be happy to have them.’’
Mr Godfrey said the nominations for the two day GP program were disappointing.
“They had about half what they were expecting,’’ he said.
“I don’t know the reason – maybe because it was the first round of the season.’’
He said the program was curtailed slightly because of windy conditions on both days.
There was one minor incident when F3 driver Tyla Howard from the Raymond Terrace club rolled over during Sunday’s program. However, Howard was uninjured.
Mr Godfrey said there was a disappointing response to the Taree club day set down for Sunday, with only three boats taking part and spoke to officials immediately after she returned to the riverbank.
He said a number of regulars were away while a clash with a club day in Windsor also didn’t help.
Meanwhile Taree Aquatic Powerboat Club Easter Classic will be run on Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21.
This is the club’s main event for the year.
