The records were set in 1977 and 78.
Dave will reach in excess of 300kmph during this trial run, in the second to last trial run prior to the world record attempt. Ken Warby is currently the only man in history to design, build and drive a boat to an outright, unlimited world water speed record. He is also the only man alive to ever hold this record.
Dave’s aim is to not only beat his father’s record, but to reach 560kmph and become the fastest man on water globally.
“The river holds a very special place in my heart with many happy memories,’’ Ken said.

“With the launch of Dave's Crowdfunding campaign and the technology available to take people along for the ride, we’re hoping many other people will get some of their own as well.…wish I had that in my day.”
“We’re looking to achieve 300kmph on this run, it’s going to be a hell of a ride and we can't wait for people to strap in with us,” Dave Warby added.
Meanwhile the Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers‘, Australia’s highest profile and most successful search and rescue drones, have come onboard as sponsors and will be covering the trial run with four drones in the sky.
The military-grade, battery-powered drones will create spectacular aerial footage of the event and offer immediate assistance in case of an emergency on the day.
Dave plans to have the first run from around 7.30 on Saturday and he said three or four more runs are also planned, all of around 30 to 40 minutes.
