Dubbed ‘Holler for Marshall’, the benefit day raised $41,000 towards the purchase of an electric wheelchair for Marshall.
He suffered a severe stroke last year, completely demobilising the left side of his body.
Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club manager Terry Green said the event “exceeded expectations.”
“It was absolutely fantastic – we originally planned to raise about $15,000,” he said.
“We couldn’t have wished for a better day for him.”
Marshall was “very humbled” by all those who attended and raised funds for his ongoing care, according to Terry.
He added thanks for those who donated to the cause.
“We would like to thank the community for their support on the day,” Terry said.
“Marshall is a part of our club and part of our family.”
Men of League was a major supporter of the day, with many of the game’s greats in attendance. Marshall is the publicity officer for the Mid North Coast branch as well as an employee of the bowling club.
There are plans to bring Marshall into the club in the coming weeks to say hello to the staff.
Marshall is continuing his recovery at Forster’s Baptist Care Kularoo Gardens.
