On the meeting agenda for 2pm on Wednesday, February 6 at the Forster office, council is due to vote on whether or not to proceed to the next stage of the centralisation project, however, Cr Kathryn Bell, Cr Peter Epov and Cr Jan McWilliams have provided notice of two motions to halt the decision.
Notice one requests that council immediately write to the Minister for Local Government and request the appointment of an independent person to review the office centralisation proposal and to conduct public consultation as necessary.
Notice two requests council suspend all work including the making of any decisions regarding the office centralisation proposal to the old Masters site at 2 Biripi Way, Taree, until after the NSW State elections have been finalised.
In a third notice of motion, Cr Claire Pontin is requesting that council commission a new cost benefit analysis of the project and identify the best use of the projected savings expected from the consolidation of office services for the benefit of the community.
Also, Cr Epov and Cr Bell have each submitted a list of questions about the centralisation project to the general manager, Adrian Panuccio prior to the meeting. Mr Panuccio’s response has been included in the meeting’s agenda.
