Dr Gillespie said $6000 in Federal funding would be made available towards the $12,000 upgrade under the Federal Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities program.
The club will use the funds to build new safer steps and pathways around the club house and down to the tennis courts. A new fence will be installed, dividing the two courts, plus there will be new signage and painting of the clubhouse exterior, Dr Gillespie said.
Under the latest funding round of the Stronger Communities program (SCP), each electorate receives $150,000 to allocate towards successful projects, with a maximum of 20 projects to be funded per electorate.
“Grants of between $2500 and $20,000 are awarded to successful applicants and I am delighted that the Black Head community has been able to benefit from this important initiative,” Dr Gillespie said.
