Come down to the Old Bar Park (by the football field) and enjoy a free breakfast. This will include the traditional sausage sizzle, Aussie damper, and other fine Aussie food cooked by your hardworking Lions club members.
The children can burn off some energy with some typical Aussie games and enjoy the music provided by local musicians.
The Old Bar Citizen of the Year along with the Youth of the Year will be presented by our local federal member, Dr David Gillespie, who will be giving the Australia Day address.
The fun will begin at 7am. Please put this in your diaries and join in the fun.
Craft at Old Bar
Craft at Old Bar resumes on Wednesday, February 6.
We begin the new year with Geraldene taking us through the steps to create a beautiful card using holographic scratch art. Requirements include card, medium sized knitting needle, stickers of your choice (e.g. flowers, birds, etc).
As usual, our venue is the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall, Hall Street, Old Bar, 11am – 2pm. Please bring your own lunch. Tea/coffee supplied.
Cost each session is $4, plus extra for kits, materials etc. when provided. Always bring along your craft kit.
It is not necessary to participate in a workshop. You are most welcome to bring along your own craft project – or do nothing and just enjoy yourself. Our aim is to get together, relax, create and have some fun and fellowship. We care about each other.
More information is available by phoning 6553 2500 or 0415 785 608. All ladies are welcome.
Late "Christmas" for volunteers
The Old Bar Community Technology Centre volunteers traditionally have an end of year get together in December.
It's a thank you for the volunteers keeping the centre running five and a half days a week, every week of the year, with no closures for holiday breaks, just Sundays and public holidays.
There were so many unavailable when originally planned for December, so it was postponed to January, last Saturday. Those available met at the Wallabi Point Coastal Cafe for a nice rang of treats and coffee.
Markets this Sunday
The very successful and popular markets at the beach are on again this Sunday.
The markets have grown in popularity since moving to the location above the surf club and skate park. Pop along and see what is on offer. A wide range of goods are offered for sale.
