TAREE Tornadoes’ basketball pre-season gets underway on Sunday (January 13) with the club’s orientation meeting and breakfast for all of the 2019 representative players.

“Our club is well placed for the 2019 season, as the players have been in light training since the end of the 2018 NJL competitions,’’ coaching director, Lonnie Funderburke said.
“Early morning training sessions resume next week as well as fitness sessions with personal trainer, Mike Luke and team training sessions will have us prepared for round one in March.”
Representative numbers have grown again this year and the Tornadoes will enter 10 teams from under 12s through to under 18s in both girls and boys into the Northern Junior League. This year the under 14 girls and under 16 girls will compete in the championship division.
Meanwhile summer training clinics conducted by Lonnie Funderburke will be held at Taree Basketball’s headquarters at Saxby’s Stadium next week. Clinics will run from 9am to 11am from Monday to Thursday.
Monday will be Super 10s super camp for players aged 8-10 while Tuesday will be super 12s super camp for 10 to 12-year-olds.
There’ll be a rookie camp on Wednesday for players aged 12-15 while a skills and drills for Tiny Torndadoes (5-8 years) on Thursday.
