An alleged drink driver had a close call with staff members of a bottle shop in the Taree CBD on Friday, January 4.

At about 12.10pm on Friday, January 4, a 51-year-old man was stopped by police as he drove into a drive thru bottle shop, almost hitting staff in the driveway.
He was subjected to a breath test which proved positive.
The man was transported to Taree Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis.
The analysis returned a reading of 0.256.
He was charged with high range drink driving and subsequently had his licence suspended.
The man will appear in Forster Local Court in February.
