JADA promotes excellence in contemporary Australian drawing, and gallery director Rachel Piercy is looking forward to welcoming the award exhibition.
“We love promoting Australian drawing and it’s really exciting to have an exhibition that so beautifully and diversely showcases our country’s talents” said Rachel.
Highlighting the central importance of drawing as a practice in its own right, JADA provides a platform for experimentation and innovations.
The 2018 JADA attracted 498 entries from 371 artists across Australia, with the selection process being difficult given the calibre and number of entries received. Of the final 55 entries chosen, this year’s winner of the $30,000 major prize was Todd Fuller with the work ‘Ode to Clarence’ (animation).
“We know visitors to the gallery will love the diversity and quality of this exhibition and it’s a great way for residents of the MidCoast region to have access to contemporary drawing,” added Rachel.
An official opening is planned for Friday January 18 from 6pm with entry just $10 ($7 for ‘friends’), with bookings required by Wednesday January 16.
The exhibition will run until Sunday March 3.
