The group donned their green and blue matching singlets and got geared up to take part in the fitness event that attracted more than 120 runners.
At 8am on Tuesday January 1, 2019, the Forster fitness enthusiasts headed off on the five kilometre course that started at the Endeavour Place Reserve and comprised of two laps to the Martin Bridge.
Forster, like Taree, has a parkrun group which holds a five kilometre run every Saturday for anyone looking for a little bit of fun and fitness.
While people take part in the runs for a range of reasons, like beating their best time or a healthy way to catch up with friends, the New Year’s event was also a chance to celebrate some runners’ milestones.
For Chris Newell, the event was a special one as it marked her 50th run.
Forster parkrun relies on volunteers and is free for anyone who wants to take part. The event takes place every Saturday at the Bicentennial Walk in the Pebbly Beach parkland off Head Street, Forster.
Runs are not just in Australia, they can be found worldwide. It’s all about a bit of fitness and having fun in a friendly, safe environment.
