Weather intervened in the clash against Taree West at Cedar Party Reserve at Wingham. The game was heading to an exciting conclusion, with Wingham 8/95 chasing Taree West’s 9/138.
When rain ruled out play Wingham was awarded the game as they were ahead of the required run rate.
Earlier Taree West batted out the full 40 overs, with JJ Burton on 37 and Ryan Williams, 30, the leading run scorers. Josh McTaggart took 3/27 for Wingham and Michael Rees 2/28.
Wingham started badly, losing in-form batsman Rees for one and they were soon in more trouble at 2/7.
Ryan Morris (35) and Ben Cole (33) put on 56 but Wingham then lost 5/32, with Taree West on the cusp of victory before the rain started. Skipper Josh Meldrum missed out with the bat, but did the damage with the ball, taking 3/6 from 3.2 overs for Taree West.
In other games Rovers upset Port Pirates, Macquarie defeated Nulla and Wauchope downed Port City Magpies. United had the day off with the bye.
The premier league will revert to T20 fixtures in January with the competition-proper to resume on Saturday February 2.
