About 150 hampers were created to provide support for families doing it tough during the festive season.
St Vincent de Paul Society’s Deacon Vince Ryan said the community has banded together to support the Christmas hamper appeal.
“Some of the families we look after are those that are really in need, struggle with bills and providing for their families so this is a wonderful gesture we offer, practical ways of supporting them with food,” he said.
“But it also says we care about them and that’s probably the biggest gift we can offer these people is the fact that they know we care about them.”
Donations came from St Clare’s High School, St. Joseph’s Primary Taree, Old Bar Public School, the Taree and Wingham Catholic parishes, Bunnings Warehouse Taree, Manning Valley Property and Lifestock, LJ Hooker Old Bar Beach and Manning River Steel.
The hampers were distributed on Wednesday, December 12.
