MidCoast Council and NSW Department of Industry, Lands and Water have partnered through the Harrington Beach State Park Trust to restore public access along the northern section of Harrington’s breakwall.
The work, which commenced on Friday, December 7, will see contractors clear sand accumulated along the popular walkway.
“Harrington is well known for its iconic breakwall, which is enjoyed by both locals and tourists exploring this stunning area of our coastline,” Paul De Szell, MidCoast Council’s director, community spaces and services, said.
“The work currently underway has been scheduled in preparation for the busy summer period, providing safe access for holiday-makers and supporting disability inclusion”.
Once cleared, the breakwall will also provide easy beach access for those who are seeking a great vantage point for Harrington’s New Year’s Day fireworks.
It is anticipated the work to clear the breakwall will be completed today, Tuesday, December 11.
