The brick wall facing the Manning River at the back of the Valley Fair Shopping Centre will be the canvas for this novel event.
“Our aim is to help to beautify the area along the council riverwalk path whilst at the same time celebrating the talents of our visual artists in the Manning Valley,” said Richelle Murray, chair of Sunrise Rotary (part of Taree on Manning Rotary Club).
“Lots of people can paint and draw and we are inviting everyone to come and join us on Australia Day and share their artistic talents. Proceeds will go towards the ongoing local community projects of our club.”
The club is holding a working bee at 9am on Sunday, December 16 and anyone who would like to come to the riverbank and help prepare the community canvas will be more than welcome.
The plan is that the community art will be in place for 12 months and will be renewed annually on Australia Day.
This is part of an ongoing plan by Sunrise Rotary to beautify the local area.
The club is a young club of enthusiastic young business people interested in supporting our community and meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7am. Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to telephone Richelle Murray on 0427 577 204.
“We are extending a special welcome to art students, particularly year 12 art students, in our local schools. We know that there is amazing talent in our schools,” said Richelle.
“Perhaps there are some local businesses who would like to sponsor a student on the day. There will be space to recognise any supporting business.”
