Although I've expressed great concern about many things that MidCoast Council is doing - especially the monster Masters building conversion project - I'd like to commend council staff in the environment (natural systems) section.

The best thing was the presentation at Forster council chambers last Thursday evening “The secret life of the squirrel glider”.
It was part of the celebration of the 2018 water report card series and featured senior ecologist Mat Bell giving a fun and informative view of the life of these cute critters.
We felt this presentation should be mandatory viewing for all councillors – and for as many residents and visitors as can possibly see it because these animals, their habitat and the threats to their continued existence apply to so much of our wildlife.
There were four other events in this series – wetlands at Bulahdelah, revegetation at Pacific Palms behind community centre, boat trip up the Wallamba river and Brown’s Creek restoration.
I beg council to spend money on these and other programs to protect and enhance the natural environment and educate people about it.
Please reconsider the massive and disproportionate expenditure on centralising administration and thus frustrating the community and depriving other projects of resources.
