For the first time in 35 years to mug won’t be held on the last weekend in November.
“We just didn’t get enough numbers,’’ water polo spokesman Josh Whyte-Butler explained.
“We’re thinking it might be a bit close to Christmas. We’ll have a meeting in a couple of weeks and throw a few ideas around.
“It might be better at the start of the year instead of at the end.’’
He said team numbers have dropped off in recent years. In 2017 there were four women’s sides and five men.
Traditionally held at the Wingham Pool, the mug attracted close to 20 teams in its heyday.
