Larkin, a Taree West Cricket Club junior, put on 258 with opener Daniel Hughes. Hughes made 116. NSW declared at 3/360 setting Queensland a total of 380 to win. The game will finish today, with Queensland resuming at 2/51.
This was Larkin’s second Sheffield Shield century and his first since November 2014 when he made 130 against South Australia.
Larkin faced 290 balls and his 23 boundaries. NSW began the day at 0/33 and Larkin and Hughes added 100 runs in the first session. They put on a further 125 in the second session before Hughes was dismissed.
Manuka Oval has been a profitable ground for Larkin as he made 205 there when playing for ACT/NSW Country in a Futures League clash against Queensland in October. Here he put on 240 with Hughes.
Larkin started playing cricket with Taree West juniors and progressed to first grade before moving to Sydney.
He captains Sydney University in the NSW Premier competition and made his Sheffield Shield debut for NSW in 2014.
