MidCoast Libraries, together with Midcoast Waste Services, is hosting a Clothes Swap Party at Taree Library on Wednesday, November 21.

With a focus on re-using, recycling and minimising the amount of waste generated across the MidCoast, you’re invited to gather up to five pieces from your wardrobe that you’re no longer wearing and in return you’ll earn up to five swap tokens to exchange for something a little different.

During the party, which takes place from 5:45pm to 8:30pm, there will be an opportunity for a styling session with Trisha, the organiser of the NAIDOC Indigenous Fashion Show, while enjoying the music stylings of Hudson Rose. There will also be local food and wine to sample, and Slow Clothing workshops from Midcoast Waste Services and Sweet Pea & Mumma.

The event costs $8 per person, and attendees are asked to take their pre-loved adult garments to the library prior to the event, between 12pm and 4:30pm, either the day before or the day of.

To qualify for swap tokens, items must be in as-new or gently used condition, without stains or faults and any remaining items will be donated to a local charity after the event.

This project is part of MidCoast Council’s Re-Imagine Waste campaign, an initiative aimed at reducing the amount of waste ending up in landfill.
