Kickstart is the very first step before riders aged seven to 16 begin competitive motorcycling. It is to assess the riders’ ability and to pass on information and skills to help them get a licence to start competitive riding.
Kickstart will normally take two to three hours to complete and the rider will get time on the track. Participants will need to provide their own motorcycle and adequate safety gear.
Riders aged four to seven can participate in the demonstration class on race and practice days and are not required to complete the Kickstart. They will, however, need to purchase a day licence or yearly demonstration class licence before they can attend one of the club race or practice days.
Craig Nelson, a former club president and an accomplished rider, will conduct the program.
“Younger riders are welcome to complete the Kickstart process with some of the older riders because I believe it to be a good induction to the club and also to the sport,’’ he said.
For further details contact Craig Nelson on 0412 366 260 or visit the Taree Motorcycle Club’s website.
A practice day will be held at the track on Sunday November 18 with gates opening at 8am; sign-in finishing at 9.30 and riding from 10am.
