Miulloway to 12kgs were caught on soft plastics and live yellow tail while flathead to 92cm have been landed on hard bodied lures.
Some bream and whiting have been caught, the bream on bait and the whiting on poppers fished over the sand flats.
Chopper tailor have made their appearance on Crowdy beach but some fish are undersized.
Outside anglers have scored well in the deep water. Snapper, pearl perch, bar cod and flathead have been boated. Small mahi mahi have been gathering around the wave rider.
Next weekend the Mid North Coast Amateur Fishing Club Association’s fresh water championships will be held in this area. Mullet will be hard to come by in the lower reaches of the river but fishing up-stream around Tiri could provide plenty of fish. – Ian Pereira
