The service, led by Iraq veteran Andrew Murray, saw speeches and prayers replaced by items of verse, choir, the traditional wreath laying and Last Post ceremony.
Rural Fire Service and Light Horse troopers attended in full uniform.
Relics from the demolished Bohnock Hall and the honour roll from the Mitchells Island Hall were put on display beside those from Oxley Island Hall.
The service ended with the presentation of a defence medal to former Oxley Island resident Elissa Rosenberg by Rodney O'Regan OAM VA.
Among the 150 people in attendance were distance travellers and local family groups.
Many of these people had not seen each other for years.
Harrington's Errol Cavanagh and Forster’s Ken Blade were Vietnam veterans of the same unit.
The service was the first time they had seen each other in 47 years.
Many commented that it was the best service they had ever attended.
A delicious lunch was provided by the hall committee as family groups gathered for photographs in front of the beautiful cenotaph after what many described as a perfect day.
This year marked the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.
