The Bohnock boat ramp facility is one of the Mid Coast’s most popular boat ramps and is inundated with traffic over the busy holiday period.

The new car and trailer parking areas are funded through the NSW Boating Now Program and MidCpast Council’s environmental levy.

This will be a welcome addition for those using the facility and complement the extensive upgrades completed over the past 12 months.

Work is scheduled to begin in early November and is estimated to take around five weeks, aiming for the completion of the project prior to the start of the school holidays.

“Most people who live in or visit our area know about Bohnock boat ramp and over the years its popularity as a prime boat ramp facility has only grown,” Rhett Pattison, council’s acting director of engineering and infrastructure, said.

“The new parking areas will be a welcome addition for boaters, particularly during peak holiday periods, and will improve access to the boat ramp facility, making it a more user-friendly site overall.”

Work will be concentrated off-road, so there will be minimal disruptions to traffic flow, other than minor interruptions during material haulage and delivery.

“As with the upgrade here last year, we’ve scheduled the work so that the car park would be finished and ready for use across the summer by locals and holidaymakers wanting to make the most of the Manning River and connecting waterways,” Rhett said.

The reserve will also be officially named by summer, with the wider community given the opportunity to help decide.
