Students from Taree High School left the school hall at 12.30pm, relieved that the first exam was completed.
“It’s over. It was pretty tough. Harder than trials,” year 12 student Hayley Armstrong said.
Xavier Hunt had a differing opinion. “It was easier than the trial exam. I think it went pretty smoothly. The creative writing stimulus went really well with my story. I’m not confident on getting anything too spectacular but I did okay,” he said.
Jasmine Davis felt she “went pretty good” but added that “creative writing’s always difficult for me.”
“I reckon I went alright. Didn’t do too bad in my creative, but the essay was a bit of a struggle,” Lachlan Ward said.
The first paper was only 50 per cent of the English exam. On Friday, October 19 they complete English paper two.
The HSC exam period finishes on Friday, November 9.
