“We are so proud of her,” Izzy’s father, Daniel Gaul said. “We can’t even fathom her generosity.”
After learning some children lose their hair to illness, Izzy couldn’t sit idly by, convincing her parents to help her get involved and do something, asking, “Can I give them some of my hair so they can have long Rapunzel hair again like I have?”
Izzy’s parents found Variety the Children's Charity, Hair with Heart, and helped Izzy sign up to donate 40cm of her hair to be made into a wig for another child who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.
After blitzing her goal to raise $2000 through her donation page and receiving a total of $2203.77, Izzy sat down for her big haircut earlier this month.
“There were plenty of generous people to help her reach the goal,” Daniel said.
“Izzy was brilliant, she had this excited little grin on her face when the first strand was chopped, she had to hold it up high as it was cut and she just laughed and laughed.
“As soon as it was all done she said, ‘Now I’ve got to grow it all out quickly so I can donate more hair!’, she is just incredible.”
