We need a rise of two to three metres in the river to flush out the weed and slime that is clogging up the stream.
In the estuary at Harrington, school jewfish have been falling to hard bodied lures fished deep.
Most of the fish are just under one metre in length and about seven to eight kilograms.
Flathead are becoming more numerous in the lower part of the river and are taking baits, soft plastics and hard bodied lures.
Fish of over six kilos were caught in the lagoon early in the week.
Now that the winds have started to blow on the north east, we will get some formations on the beaches again.
At the present time, some good catches of bream are made from the northern end of Crowdy Beach on worms and pippies.
Outside angling is getting better with the southerly weather. Snapper are plentiful on the northern grounds and flathead are still biting on the drift.
