About 4.30pm on Friday, officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District observed a Mitsubishi Mirage sedan travelling above the sign-posted speed on the Pacific Highway, north of Taree.

The car allegedly failed to stop for police and a pursuit was initiated; however, it was later terminated due to safety concerns.

It will be alleged in court that a short time later, the Mirage collided with a Toyota Hilux on Glen Ora Road at Nabiac. No one was injured.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly seized a quantity of amphetamine, ecstasy and methamphetamine, and a homemade electronic stun device.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, and three passengers were then arrested and taken to Forster Police Station.

The 39-year-old man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive while licence cancelled, use unregistered registrable motor vehicle on road, use uninsured motor vehicle, use vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and break and enter house.

A 26-year-old man was charged with larceny, operator class A vehicle cause/permit/allow contravention, cause or permit use of unregistered vehicle on road, permit uninsured motor vehicle to be used, supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug (x3), and custody of knife in public place.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Saturday, October 13.

The other passengers, a 28-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, were released pending further inquiries.
