OLD Bar’s Holli Wheeler has been named in the back-row for the Australian Jillaroos team to meet New Zealand in the women’s rugby league test in Auckland on Saturday.

This will be the 28-year-old’s debut in the national side.

Wheeler was a member of the Prime Ministers squad that defeated Papua New Guinea 40-4 in the clash at Port Moresby last weekend.

She played with CRL Newcastle in the NSW Women’s Premiership this season and represented Country and NSW before signing for St George-Illawarra to play in the inaugural NRL women’s competition. Wheeler was named the St George women's player of the year.

Wheeler has previously represented Australian Country in hockey.

Two Group Three products, Boyd Cordner and Latrell Mitchell, will be members of the Australian Kangaroos side to tackle New Zealand. Cordner will captain Australia for the first time in a test match. This will be Mitchell’s international debut.

Both were members of the premiership-winning Sydney Roosters side this year.
