When it was explained to her by hairdresser Jessica that the Taree Quota Club collects hair for children suffering from medical hair loss she willingly donated her hair to the cause.
Her hair had not been coloured or permed and was perfect for a hair donation to the Variety Club¹s Alopecia Foundation.
Alopecia is a condition affecting both males and females in which hair is lost from areas of the body, particularly the scalp. Although not life threatening, it certainly changes the lives of those with the condition.
“Hair is something that we should never take for granted,” Taree Quota club member Jeanette Holland said.
Taree Quota Club continues to call for community support and to raise awareness by collecting hair for sufferers of alopecia. If you are considering having your long hair styled, if your hair has not been dyed or chemically treated and is more than 30 cm long, please ask your hairdresser to save the hair which will be collected by a Quota member and sent off to be made into a wig for someone who suffers from alopecia.
For more information on hair donation, contact Nancy on 0407 585 526, Janenne on 6552 4124, or Trish on 6552 5194.
