No, it was Mitchells Island as school students presented the ‘Wizard of Oz’ on Thursday, September 20.
Mitchells Island Public School principal Michelle Wilson said it was a team effort to put the play together.
“They (students) spent 10 weeks learning the script before starting to act it out a few weeks ago.
“All the staff were involved and we had a few parents paint backdrops and making props.
“The children were all very excited to be involved,” Michelle said.
Unfortunately, the ‘Wicked Witch’ faced a bit of stage fright so Michelle jumped in to fill the role.
“The kids thought it was hilarious that I was up there,” Michelle smiled.
More than 170 people watched the play across two sessions (a matinee and evening show) at the Mitchells Island Hall.
The school thanked Mitchells Island Hall committee, the school’s parents and citizens association, Manning Point General Store, Manning Point Bowling Club and DW Quality Meats Forster.
