Lansdowne Rural Fire Brigade will be holding a ‘get ready weekend’ on Sunday, September 23.
Go along and meet the brigade members, have a chat about bushfire survival plans, and enjoy a sausage sandwich as well.
The fire shed will open from 9am to 11am.
Football Club
Lansdowne Football Club has been successful in securing almost $130,000 in grant funding from the NSW Government to install a new floodlighting system at Lansdowne oval.
This infrastructure improvement project is expected to meet the national lighting standard required to play club competition matches at night.
The club and broader community would like to thank MP Leslie Williams and her staff, especially Terry Sara, for their assistance with this funding.
MidCoast Council will be a key project stakeholder.
Fishing Club
On Saturday, September 22, the Lansdowne Fishing Club has a $50 seafood tray up for grabs, alongside the $40 supporters tray at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club.
There is now a list on the club notice board for those wishing to attend the club’s presentation evening on October 13.
Names need to be in by October 5.
Entry forms are available from the club for the fishing pairs big bash, scheduled for November 9 to 11.
School news
Lansdowne School assembly awards were handed out recently.
In K/1/2, student of the week was awarded to Clayton Radley for working hard and listening carefully at all times.
Class awards went to Charlee Smith for her kind, polite and friendly nature and Lucas Steed for always being willing to give things a go.
The fast maths award went to Rhys Currie for working hard during fast maths, and the artist award went to Logan Daniels for his ‘Flower’.
In class 2/3, student of the week was Beau Williams for participation in science.
Class awards went to Tahlia Gontier for her effort in writing and Allyssa Jackson for writing a great convict story.
The artist award went to Luke Williams for his ‘Grandparents Day Bag’.
In class 5/6, student of the week was Zach Nielsen for being an excellent student with a consistent positive learning attitude.
Class awards went to Casey Fletcher for always being willing to help and always willing to do his best, and Kayla O’Connor for being eager to complete tasks to the best of her ability.
The fast maths award was given to William Bell as an encouragement award to keep improving.
Community Hall
Leslie Williams met with the Lansdowne Community Hall trustees during the week to inform them they had been successful with submission through the Better Communities Grant.
With the funds that will be available to them the trustees intend to have the inside of the hall painted, and to the path that runs the length of the hall on the road side widened out for a further meter width so that tables and chairs can be outside the hall during the warmer weather.
A fluid art workshop run by Robyn Keogh and wine tasting event will be held at the hall on October 27.

The Lansdowne Community Hall markets will be held on Saturday, September 29 at the Lansdowne Community Hall and in the surrounding grounds.
There will be a free morning tea, lucky spot prizes, entertainment and lots of stalls with some very great bargains from craft, plants, pre-loved items, home baked delights from cakes, slices, jams, pickles and so much more.
Sausage sandwich and egg and bacon sandwiches and drinks will be available to purchase from the barbecue.
Leslie Williams will be attending the markets, which run from 8am-12pm.

A blast from the past
Who is coming? It is only weeks away.
The invitation to take part in a blast from the past get together for previous and present day Lansdowne people is extended to all who would like to take part.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 13 at the Lansdowne Community Hall from 10am-4pm.
If you had anything to do with the Lansdowne Valley community in the past, from school either teachers, staff or students, sporting clubs such as the soccer, football, cricket and bowls or church groups or you had lived here you are most welcome to attend and catch up with some old friends.
Bring along old photos and anything that may be of interest.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided but if you would like to bring along a plate to share it would be appreciated.
Also, a donation box will be on hand to help with the cost.
Organisers would like to hear from anyone who is intending to attend for catering purposes.

Sinfonia Mid North Coast
A reminder that Sinfonia Mid North Coast, your community orchestra, will be presenting their classical collection at the Upper Lansdowne Hall on Saturday, September 22 at 2pm.
These musicians are drawn from the wider Mid North Coast community, coming from all walks of life and all ages from 13 to 90.
Tea, coffee and cakes will be available, but feel free to BYO drinks and nibbles.
