In a big act of generosity, Latrell along with Sue Russell from Communities for Children and the Manning Gardens Public School, have provided funding for every student at the school to attend the Friday matinee performance.
"We're very grateful to Latrell and Communities for Children for ensuring our students will get to experience the live Circus Oz performance," school deputy principal Kelly Bryden said.
As part of their community outreach initiative, Manning Entertainment Centre arranged for two Circus Oz performers to visit Taree on Tuesday, August 14, to present three free community workshops. Manning Gardens Public School was one local group who was able to participate in a Circus Skills workshop.
"Our students spent some time with the Circus Oz performers, learning some circus performing tricks. For them to have this opportunity to now see the skills performed in live theatre is a fantastic experience and adds immensely to their understanding of performance arts," Ms Bryden said.
Latrell says he feels very connected to the Manning Gardens Community School - it’s where his dad, Matt was school captain in the 1980s, all of his uncles attended school, and now he has numerous family members who attend the school.
He tries to visit the school each year, providing a role model for the students - and creating a lot of excitement at school.
"I just wanted the kids to be able to go and have some fun, and get to see something they wouldn’t normally get to experience," Roosters star Latrell said.
Celebrating their 40th year, Circus Oz presents its latest high octane circus show 'Model Citizen'.
Circus Oz will perform at the Manning Entertainment Centre on Friday, September 21, with one hour shows at 10.30am and 12.30pm, and 7.30pm for a two hour show. Tickets are still available, book now online at www.mec.midcoast.nsw.gov.au or at the MEC or Stockland Forster.
