NEW South Wales batsman Nick Larkin from Taree has scored an outstanding century against a strong bowling attack during a 61-run limited-overs cricket trial match win for the Blues against the National Performance Squad in Brisbane.

The 28-year-old contributed 104 of the 270 posted by NSW against an attack featuring usual Blues team mates and Australian Test bowlers Mitchell Starc (1-40) and Nathan Lyon (2-54). In reply, the National Performance Squad were bowled out for 209 to make it three victories from as many matches over the past week in the Sunshine State.
The Blues earlier in the week comprehensively defeated Queensland in back-to back matches on Tuesday and Thursday.
Larkin remained unbeaten at Peter Burge Oval on Sunday and reached his century from just 91 balls. He found the boundary 11 times and cleared it on three occasions.
The shift from opener into the middle order has paid dividends for Larkin during the series of one-day trial matches for NSW in the lead-up to its first match of the JLT One-Day Cup against Western Australia at the WACA Ground on 18 September.
During the last three trial matches, Larkin has scored 204 runs and was dismissed just the once.
Along with Larkin, Blues rookie Jack Edwards was excellent at the top of the order for the Blues. He scored 66 from 92 balls.
He shared an important 62-run stand with Larkin during the middle overs to provide the platform for a solid total.
Larkin was again key to a pivotal 79-run partnership shared with Uppal (28) for the seventh wicket towards the end of the first innings.
