The Dirty Dog Tail Run is an adventurous event for dog-lovers and their hounds, held each August in the Coopernook State Forest. This year two different courses will be offered - an 8.5km run, and a shorter 4km course - both offering interesting forest smells, muddy mud spots and obstacles to look out for.
But much more than a run in the park, hounds and humans will enjoy a host of fun and games at the end, including a delicious barbecue, pooch smooch booth, dog beer drinking competition, and new this year, the "Walk of Terror" which will test the willpower of the strongest willed pets.
The brainchild of dog-lover Danielle Donnelly, the event has been designed specifically for pet-owners wanting to be adventurous with their dogs in a pet-friendly environment.
"Every detail of the event has been created from the perspective of what a dog would enjoy, from the course which runs through the forest to the fun games and agility areas that are a highlight of the event," Danielle explained.
Partnering with NSW State Forests to host the event at Coopernook, "we've been able to educate people on State Forests as dog friendly spaces, which most people don't know," she added.
Held in the Coopernook State Forest, this year's event takes place on Sunday, August 19. For more information and tickets, visit www.dirtydogtailrun.com.au.
