“Whilst Quota members may have wishful dreams to make it rain in western NSW and other drought affected regions, we are able to bring some sweet joy to families so impacted by the extensive dry with a small financial gift,” said Taree Quotarian Debra Steber.

“Every dollar we are sending to the Walgett region for distribution via the CWA, to show a little love to farming families, especially for the women and children, carries a genuine message of caring and sharing from people in the Taree, Wingham and Harrington areas.”
Taree Quota Club originally pledged to donate $1000 to support farming families.
A ‘car park conversation’ led to the concept of calling for support from the wider community and the community certainly did get behind the ‘red umbrella’ project, helping Quota collect $14,500.
“We were overwhelmed by the financial support and generosity of people who actively sought out the red umbrella to make their donations. We deeply appreciate every contribution,” Debra said.
“We were truly touched by the numbers who offered help and assistance in other ways, although that is being managed by other service organisations.
“The outpouring of concern and affection will provide great comfort and strength that comes from knowing people care.
“It will be small relief financially, but every little bit will lessen some of the burden and we know that a little discretionary cash or shopping voucher in one’s pocket is pretty empowering.
“A big thank you to the region for your giving hearts, from Team Quota, faithful to the vision beyond 100 years of service to the community,” Debra said.
