EIGHT Taree Motorcycle Club riders will contest the Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships at Kurri Kurri on Sunday.

The event was originally scheduled and started on June 9 but heavy rain forced its postponement after two rounds. The final round of heats and then the finals will be run this Sunday.

Kye Andrews, Blake Wilby, Mitch Bisley and Kurtis Wilby will ride on 150cc to 250cc bikes. Hayden Nelson, Will Bisley, Cody Wilby and Zane Hopkins are the younger group of riders representing Taree in the 85 and 65cc classes.

Taree hosted the 2017 Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships last September at its Old Bar Roadside circuit, with strong results from these boys and other Taree riders.

At home on the oil track last September, Kye Andrews won an amazing three from three Australian championships. Hayden Nelson won an 85cc championship and Will and Mitch Bisley both achieved podium positions.

While the track surface (decomposed granite) at Kurri Kurri is less familiar to the boys, the Taree riders have all competed at Kurri in the past.

Racing will be back at Taree’s Old Bar Roadside circuit on Sunday August 19 for the next round of the club championship.
