Lansdowne Public School is about to commence its kindergarten transition program, Lansdowne little learners, for students starting kindergarten in 2019.
The program will allow beginning students to get together every second Thursday in term three and every Thursday in term four to prepare for the transition.
The program has been very successful in ensuring new students feel confident in the school environment before they begin school.
The children become familiar with the classroom, playgrounds, other students and teachers, learn classroom routines and join in lessons with the current kindergarten students.
Attendance at each session is not compulsory, but it is recommended that students attend as many sessions as possible.
Anyone with questions about enrolling their child for next year, please contact the school on 65567147.
The Lansdowne School canteen will be open from the first day back at school in term three with cereal, hot toast and milo available for breakfast.
Fishing club
The Lansdowne fishing club is having its second outing for July this weekend (July 21-22), with the weigh-in at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club at 2pm on the Sunday.
The fishing club is currently running a raffle to be drawn at the presentation event on October 13.
First prize is a 10ft beach rod and reel, tackle bag and tackle box with tackle, second prize is a Diawa hoodie and third prize is a Diawa fishing shirt.
Tickets are available at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club or from fishing club members.
The next $50 seafood tray will be on Saturday, July 28.
Craft at the hall
The Upper Lansdowne craft group will hold a craft at the hall day at the Upper Lansdowne Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 27.
There will be craft demonstrations and workshops during the day, along with light refreshments.
Planning is in the early stages, with more details to become available soon.
The craft group’s ordinary meeting is on Thursday, July 26 at the Upper Lansdowne Hall, commencing a 10.30am.
The group meets at the hall every Thursday and encourages people who are thinking about taking up a craft or are already into a craft to go along and join in.
The current monthly program the group is working on is ‘unfinished objects’, with prizes for projects that take the longest to get done, that are the most completed, and many more.
Geoff Achison performance

The evening of entertainment will commence at 7pm at the Upper Lansdowne Community Hall.
