Organisers said they were ecstatic with the large crowd of between 6000-8000 people.
The crowd certainly exceeded last year’s event by about 20 per cent, fun day president, Brian Adair said.
Mr Adair attributed much of the success to attractions geared towards younger members of the community, along with a big promotional push.
We were pleased with the number of young children who came along, he said.
No-one seemed to mind the long queues as youngsters lined up for the free face-painting and the petting zoo.
For many children the petting zoo of chickens, ducks, goat, lambs and guinea pigs was their first opportunity to get up and personal hugging and feeding these popular animals.
Sea plane Charlie was kept busy throughout the day as it landed and took off on Wallis Lake giving passengers a bird’s-eye-view of the magic below.
The bucking bull, the Southern Hemisphere’s only female Elvis impersonator, ShElvis, 40 market stalls and dog show also highlighted the day.
But, the day had a precarious start when gale force winds ripped through the Great Lakes on Saturday night trashing the site and forcing organisers to work in the dark repairing the damage.
“All-in-all we had a fantastic day," Mr Adair said.
“The crowd rolled up early and stayed until late.”
