Manning Great Lakes Police District officers have reminded the public to remove all valuables from vehicles while they are parked after a number of vehicles in the Forster Tuncurry area were broken into on July 7 and 8.

Residents are advised to ensure windows are closed properly, the vehicle is fully secure and is parked in well lit areas as “valuables in plain sight are an invitation for opportunistic crime.”

Anyone with information relating to these incidents is urged to contact Forster Police Station on 6555 1299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

According to the latest quarter crime data from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, ‘steal from motor vehicle’ offences increased by almost a third in the 24 months to March 2018 in the Mid Coast area.
