Direct from sold-out seasons at the Sydney Opera House, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and in New Zealand, Roald Dahl’s family favourite George’s Marvellous Medicine arrives in Taree for one day only on August 1! In a spectacular, critically-acclaimed live show by the award-winning Shake and Stir Theatre Co, get set for a show packed to the rafters with mischief, magic and mammoth laughs from the team behind multi-Helpmann Award nominated Australian production of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts.
What starts as just another boring day for George quickly turns into a marvellous experiment of gigantic proportions!
George can’t stand his Grandma. She complains all the time, she’s mean and she smells funny.
On this particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough. Wanting to teach her a lesson and put an end to her constant nagging, George concocts a special medicine, greater than any medicine in the history of medicines.
What he doesn’t expect is that this medicine may actually work; just not in the way he thinks it will.
Suitable for ages six to 106 (grandparents beware!)
Director Ross Balbuziente is thrilled to bring another iconic Roald Dahl work to life. “George’s Marvellous Medicine was an absolute favourite of mine as a kid and still remains one of my cherished childhood books. We are relishing this rare opportunity to adapt Dahl’s much-loved book for stage. Our aim to is get kids (of all ages) to laugh as hard as they ever have before; after all - laughter is the best medicine. It’s a rocketing, surprised-filled, hilarious adventure featuring some our country’s best physical and comic actors,” said Mr Balbuziente.
The national tour kicked off in April and is touring to 34 locations across Australia, across all six states and two territories. Don’t put off booking, as the 10.30am session is already sold out and the 1pm session isn’t far off!
