The awards were made at the annual presentation night held at the surf club..
Fellow life member Mal White presented Tony Silvia with his award.
Mal spoke of Tony’s history in the surf life saving movement, gaining his Bronze Medallion in 1988, his outstanding service training, assessing and facilitating in multiple disciplines. He was IRB captain, surf boat rower and competitor, club president aving Club for many years while he also fulfilled many executive roles. Tony assisted in many club fundraisers and club reunions. He has received his 25 Year Service Award.
Ben Stevenson received his life membership from director of member services, Jane Lynch.
Jane spoke of Ben receiving his Bronze Medallion in 1993. He has served as club president, director of administration, club captain while he has also been a long standing patrolling member, qualifying for long service. Ben has been a patrol captain and surf boat coach, sweep and coordinator for over 12 years. He is the driving force behind the club’s only competitive team in surf boats.
Tony and Ben had no knowledge of these awards being presented. Both were very overwhelmed to receive the highest award the club can give. Many of their family and friends were present to witness the presentations.
