The funding was made available by the NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) Grant Scheme.
The scheme provides items that are not covered by local council or government funding.
Brigade secretary/treasurer, Kevin Organ, said the truck mounting of the fridge has improved the safety and wellbeing of members by giving them access to cool drinking water, assisting them to cool down and remain hydrated.
“The fridge slide, provided by the grant, has allowed the fridge to be fitted to the tanker. This provides a safe storage facility for food and drinks for the brigade members when attending incidents,” Mr Organ said.
“This grant, together with a previous grant from the RFSA, has allowed us to provide equipment for our brigade as we rebuild from, at one time only having two members, to our current crew of 14 members.
“We’re a small rural brigade with very few local fund raising opportunities and are therefore extremely thankful to the RFSA for their assistance.
“We’d recommend other brigades apply for the grants as the process was simple and the association really supported us with the application process.”
RFSA president Ken Middleton said the grant scheme was a highly valued support service offered by the association and enhanced brigades ability to operate.
Alongside the NSW RFSA Grant Scheme, the RFSA offers a wide range of other support initiatives to help members in their work protecting the community. This includes the sponsorship of training and learning events; the provision of scholarships for relevant educational courses to enhance member’s knowledge and skills and Volunteers’ Family Days that provide a gesture of thanks to members and an introduction to chaplaincy and support services.
Mr Middleton thanked the community for its assistance in making the NSW RFSA Grant Scheme and other support services possible.
“The people of NSW need to be thanked for purchasing tickets in the NSW RFSA raffles, with monies raised going towards the grants scheme as well as other support services focused on the Rural Fire Service volunteers throughout NSW.”
