The work is being undertaking by MidCoast Council with financial assistance from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.

"The plan is to undertake the sand replenishment in two stages - placing 5000 cubic metres each time - onto the Beach along the Boulevarde at Winda Woppa," coastal management co-ordinator, Andrew Staniland said.

"We're doing this to ensure that there is sand available this winter in reserve, should the first buffer be removed by a weather event," Mr Staniland said.

The sand will be moved by truck along the beach, with the first stage of 5000m³ expected to be complete by Thursday, June 21, weather permitting.

Fifty per cent of the cost will be provided the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, matched by council funds. 

Sand replenishment is part of the Beach Management program for Jimmys Beach, which provides a buffer for natural erosion events.

Previous investigations have shown the use of a sand buffer is the most cost effective management solution for this area, when compared to other hard engineering structures.

"Council will monitor the weather over the coming months to be ready to install the second buffer on Jimmys Beach if required," Mr Staniland said.
