Commencing mid-July, the works will result in a wider, safer and smoother driving surface along the section of Manning Point Road between Carramar Drive and Sandridge Road.
The project involves a full reconstruction, including road and shoulder widening, lifting the road level, resurfacing, and traffic guidance improvements.
The work will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm on weekdays, during which time motorists can expect short delays.
“Like any roadworks there will be some disruption to local traffic while crews are on-site, however we’ve planned the project to ensure access is maintained in both directions under traffic control,” Daniel Park, MidCoast Council’s manager operations (north), said.
Lane closures will be managed by traffic controllers and/or alternating traffic lights, while the road will be opened to normal two-way traffic outside of work hours. Reduced speed limits will apply at all times.
“Motorists are asked to be alert to changing road surface conditions, to observe directions from our crew members and roadworks signage, and to travel with caution in and around the vicinity while we carry out these important improvement works,” Daniel said.
Further details and confirmed timings will be provided to local residents as the project progresses, and crews will liaise with local property owners to minimise disruption to driveway access.
This project is part of MidCoast Council’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the region, and is funded as part of council’s $30 million Roadcare Program.
