Children's University Newcastle, an initiative supported by the University of Newcastle, encourages children between the ages of seven and 14 to be curious learners by participating in validated activities beyond the school curriculum.
Students who undertake 30 hours of extra learning opportunities at local learning destinations such as libraries and clubs, are invited to attend a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
CU on Campus provides an opportunity for children participating in the Children’s University Newcastle program, as well as their parents/carers and families, to visit campus at the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health and share the learning experience together.
The CU on Campus event represents the first opportunity of its kind for students and their families in the Taree region, with schools in the area commencing the Children’s University Newcastle program for the first time this year.
Attendees experienced a series of presentations and participated in hands on workshops presented by the university and local organisations designed to showcase the diversity of education opportunities available outside the constraints of the school-based curriculum.
