Both sides were beaten last weekend, with Camden Haven upsetting the Wildcats 4-3 while Tuncurry-Forster defeated United 2-0.
Tuesday’s game was deferred because of Port’s commitments in the FFA Cup. The Wildcats will have two trips to Port Macquarie in a week. Next Saturday they play Port Saints.
In Laurieton, the Camden Haven Redbacks and Taree Wildcats played out a seven goal thriller. The home side lead 2-1 at the break. In the second half, both teams converted two of their chances resulting in a 4-3 win to the Reds.
The Redbacks will host high flying Macleay Valley Rangers next weekend.
Macleay Valley Rangers bounced straight back into the winner’s circle after their first loss of the season last round against Wallis Lake. Rangers did it in style in the local derby against Kempsey Saints at Eden Street. Taking a 3-0 lead into the halftime break, Rangers didn’t allow their hosts back into the match at any stage and finished with a 4-0 win. The Saints will host Wauchope next weekend in round 10, while MVR will head to Laurieton to take on the Redbacks.
Port United couldn’t halt their stuttering form when they went down 2-0 to Tuncurry Forster at Tuncurry Sports Complex. The sides couldn’t be split at halftime (0-0) before the Tigers added two second half goals to take the win. The back-to-back wins for Tuncurry lefts them four points away from the bottom of the table and they have the bye next weekend to gain a further three points. After Tuesday night’s game against Taree United make the tough trip to Boronia Park next Saturday to take on Wallis Lake.
Wallis Lake continued their winning ways to remain undefeated by downing bottom placed Wauchope at Boronia Park in Forster. The sides were level 2-2 at the half time break however Lakes came home the stronger to win 4-2. Next weekend will see Wallis Lake again at home when they welcome Port United. Wauchope will be in desperate search of points. They travel to Kempsey next Saturday to face the Saints.
Reserve grade: Taree d Camden Haven 1-0, Macleay Valley d Kempsey Saints 3-0, Port United d Tuncurry-Forster 5-0, Wallis Lake d Wauchope 4-1.
