LATRELL Mitchell will be fit to play for NSW in next Sunday’s second State of Origin rugby league game despite suffering a neck injury in the clash against Penrith on Friday night.

That’s according to the Taree-born Sydney Roosters star’s dad, Matt.
“I’ve spoken to him and he said he’ll be fine,’’ Matt said at the Group Three Rugby League match between Old Bar and Taree City at Old Bar on Saturday. This marked Indigenous Round and Latrell was to be one of the special guests. However, the injury prevented him returning home on what was his 21st birthday.
Mitchell was stretched off in the second half of the game against Penrith in a neck brace.
Matt said it was ‘frightening’ to see his son in the brace.
“He’s a bit sore and sorry today but otherwise he's okay,’’ Matt assured.
“If he gets picked (for NSW), he’ll be playing.’’
The NSW side will go into camp on Sunday. Latrell made his Origin debut in the opening game against Queensland and scored a try in the Blues’ win.
