With every coffee poured, $1 was placed in the jar.
Add in generous donations from customers and soon it was near capacity.
Cafe Thyme’s Nerida Ramsay said at the end of the fundraiser $873 had been collected.
She thanked all customers for their support of the fundraiser and hoped that their contribution would help the foundation reach their target of $3 million.
Round 12 of the National Rugby League (NRL) was dubbed the Beanies for Brain Cancer round.
This helped the Mark Hughes Foundation raise $2,619,000 for cancer research.
The result has already bested the former target of $2 million and $1.75 million raised during the round last year.
