Held for the first time last year, the event is again being organised by Kimberly Wright of Taree. It will start and finish at Endeavour Place, near Manning River Rowing Club, with entrants having the option of either walking a 2km course along the Manning River Foreshore or running/walking 5km. The 5km run will be the same route as the weekly Taree parkrun held on Saturday mornings. Kimberly is a keen Taree parkrunner.
Last year’s walk/jog attracted 170 starters and raised more than $8000, Kimberly dedicating it to her grandfather.
“Port Macquarie isn’t having one this year, so we’re hoping to get a few people who usually go in it down here,’’ Kimberley explained.
Registrations are open online now. On June 24 registrations will be taken from 7am to 8.30 with the 5km walkers and runners heading off from 9am. The 2km walk begins at 9.10 and there’ll be a presentation from 10.30.
