Wheeler, a backrower, has been selected on the bench. The squad was announced yesterday.
Wheeler was a member of the winning NSW Country side at the national championships played in Queensland last week. She plays for CRL Newcastle in the NSW Women’s Premiership. Wheeler also represented NSW Country in the inaugural clash against City last year.
She has made the State side despite not being part of the NSW pathways program this year. However, Wheeler was among NSW Country’s best at the national championships.
The NSW side will be captained by Maddison Studdon from South Sydney after regular skipper, Ruan Sims was ruled out with a broken hand.
Wheeler is one of four CRL Newcastle players in the 17 strong NSW squad.
