Mitchell will be one of a record 11 debutants in the Blues team. He’ll join Sydney Roosters team-mate Cordner in the squad. Cordner, who has made nine Origin appearances, will be the captain for the second successive season.
Mitchell will partner Brisbane’s James Roberts – another debutant – in the centres. Roberts was born in Kempsey.
The city media this morning published what was said to be a leaked copy of the NSW side.
It was revealed that coach Brad Fittler settled on the 17-man squad on Sunday night.
The team will officially be announced at 6.40pm Monday at The Star.
